Foundations for Global Digital Careers (Software & Web)

The Foundations for Global Digital Careers Pathway prepares learners for in-demand digital jobs by equipping them with essential web development, software fundamentals, and global digital workplace skills. This pathway introduces the building blocks of the internet, website creation, basic coding concepts, and the tools used by modern software and web development teams worldwide.
It is designed to help refugees and vulnerable youth gain the foundational knowledge needed to access global remote-work opportunities, junior-level digital roles, and further learning programs in technology. Through Coursera’s high-quality courses, learners will understand how digital products are created—and how they can participate in the global digital economy.

Requirements for the Program

  • Must be a refugee or vulnerable youth within RYCM’s target communities.
  • Commitment to learning for 4 months and completing online tasks.
  • Access to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop plus basic internet.
  • Basic English comprehension; transcripts and captions are available.
  • Motivation to practice coding and digital skills consistently.

Senior Requirement (Who This Pathway Is Best For)

This pathway is ideal for youth who:

  • Want to learn the basics of websites, coding, and digital product building.
  • Are exploring future roles in software development, IT support, digital design, or remote digital work.
  • Want skills that are relevant to the global online job market.
  • Prefer practical, technical learning but still at a beginner-friendly level.
  • Are interested in stepping into the tech world but need a supportive, foundational starting point.
